Testing

The CVPC offers a common, standardized test environment for advanced automotive and telecommunications equipment and applications. As ideas move from the drawing board to the field, developers in the new connected vehicle industry can use the CVPC to test their products in a standard environment. To help developers avoid extensive and duplicative costs, the CVPC can provide a set of common and interlinked test facilities for design, testing, and diagnostics. The Center can also provide services for research and development of hardware, software, user services, and complete vehicle communications systems. This common test environment takes advantage of the complementary resources and universal testing requirements of CVPC partners and other leading organizations in the growing vehicle communications industry and offers a cost-effective test and evaluation service alternative.

The CVPC also boasts the development of a network operating center (NOC) that will provide all networking portals and Internet backhaul support for a full range of telecommunications pipelines that connect vehicles to the CVPC and to integrated test environments. The NOC will also be home to a comprehensive test and evaluation suite that includes data storage, real-time data access, and analysis tools that provide customers with the applications and professional services for testing and validating connected-vehicle systems and components.

The CVPC offers several options for accessing the Center's testing capabilities. Customers may use CVPC services to test their technologies on-site. Some of their testing requirements may involve working with other CVPC collaborators, such as the Michigan Department of Transportation, to access equipped roads, test tracks, or other technologies. The CVPC can ensure that such testing coordination happens seamlessly, and that customers can take full advantage of the services offered by the Center.
